September 20, 2008 – Magic Arrives, Miste Update

Saturday, September 20th, 2008

September 20th, 7:55am: Good morning friends. This will be a really busy day for us. As opposed to the other days of the week which are only just ‘busy’… I always think it’s funny when someone tries to tell me how busy their day is and then asks about our days and I get  to recount how our days go and they tend to shut up after that and are a little more appreciative of their suddenly not so comparatively busy schedule.  Today another rescue horse arrives – little Magic, the mini. Many of you have followed his story on the forum – well today’s the day DanMan’s ‘mom’ (Ann) brings Magic to Raindance. The Legacy is adoping Magic as part of its commitment to education and outreach. Magic will be visiting schools, youth groups, assisted living facilities and nursing homes. We’ll be sure to post lots of pics and you’re welcome to watch on the farm cams.

Miste (the rescue who arrived a week ago) is doing much better. The vet comes out today to check on her. We’re concerned over the apparent infection in her right eye and her ongoing cold or respiratory infection. The meds have slowly made progress but we’ve kept her in quarantine until the vet gives her an okay. She’s certainly gotten more energy – paying attention to things around her, calling to Kat when she goes out in the barn and everyone that’s been out regularly has said she’s filling out nicely – certainly much quicker than we had thought possible given her condition and her age. The areas around her hips that were so caved in are filling in nicely. We’re certainly happy about that as we race to get weight on her before winter – and it appears she’s on the same agenda and has agreed to help us achieve that goal!

September 16, 2008 – Miste Cam (rescue horse)

September 16th, 5:17pm: Hi folks – FYI, I have our new rescue resident, Miste, out in the front yard getting some lawn salad:

Miste Cam

Won’t be for terribly long I don’t think, just wanted her to get some out in the sunshine and enjoy some good grass while Kat gives some riding lessons this evening. iI’m actually sitting out here next to her writing this blog. I’m doing my best not to write the Legacy blogs here but I know a lot of folks use this as their launching point so just wanted you to catch a glimpse of our latest rescue. We’ll post more about her progress on the official blog and forum.
