Training to be a Bikini Competitor – Part 2

After the dreaded “before” pictures and determining my body fat it was time to get to work!  I had to try to build 5 pounds of muscle in my shoulders by competition time….I was not feeling optimistic, but I had 5 1/2 months to do it and I was going to give it my all.

Gym time went from 3 days a week to 5 days a week….with 2 rest days.  Hitting shoulders twice a week to try to build them.  Eating clean with 1 cheat meal a week, which was either pizza or a burger and french fries! Mmmm  I was so busy working out, meal planning and prepping(this step is so very very important!), hitting my macros & researching that the time flew by and before I knew it, it was time for progress pictures.

WHAT!  LOOK AT THAT!  I was SHOCKED!  Seriously….I could not believe my eyes…LOOK   AT   MY    SHOULDERS!  Hard to believe this is only 3 months work….See why the pictures are so very important.  I could not see these results in the mirror.  Seeing this gave me the drive to get through the next few months.

I do need to be totally honest, there were moments of tears, break downs and days I thought I could not do it.  But those times were “moments” and typically after a good nights sleep and a little pep talk from my husband I was good to go.  I also was lucky enough to be training with a friend who was ALWAYS there for silly questions and mood swings…who made me laugh through a lot of them.  I laughed because as I texted her what I was thinking it would sound like I was losing my mind, so you just caught to get through it.  The good days out weighed the bad moments by a long shot & even know the journey was difficult, for me, it was fun.

Thanks for stopping by
